Michael Sanchez appointed Director of Bands
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Sanchez as William Fleming High School's next Director of Bands. Mr. Sanchez will oversee the day-to-day operations of the entire program, including directorship of the Marching Colonels, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble.
Mr. Sanchez begins work in the band office in a couple of weeks. Please expect communication from him in the near future following the establishment of his RCPS email account. The band office phone remains unchanged, but we appreciate your patience as he begins his new role. Mr. Sanchez is excited to work with the growing program at WFHS and is looking forward to getting to know the students and community. We know you will join us in giving him a warm Colonel welcome!
Mr. Sanchez holds the Master of Music in Clarinet Performance and the Master of Music in Wind Conducting, both from the University of Southern Mississippi. He completed his bachelor's degree in Music Education at Florida International University.
A native of Miami, Florida, Mr. Sanchez has extensive experience as a clarinet player and conductor, having performed in festivals and honor bands throughout the country. His performing career includes recognition as the featured artist at the Kendall New Music Art Festival, principal clarinetist for the Ars Nova Symphony Orchestra, and the principal bass clarinetist for both the Florida Intercollegiate Band and National Intercollegiate Band.
Mr. Sanchez has taught private lessons and marching techniques within the Miami-Dade County school system. He also served as the clarinet and marching technician at both Jones County Junior College in Laurel, Mississippi and Foley High School in Foley, Alabama. At Southern Mississippi, Mr. Sanchez served on the graduate staff with the marching and pep bands.
