WF Band Weekly Update: April 30 - May 4, 2018

The weekly schedule and announcements for April 30 – May 4 are below. Thank you for your attention to these items.

Wednesday, May 2 is a major due date for many items. Please make special note of those items in the schedule. Since our concert is on Tuesday, May 8 this is technically the final week of preparation. I am excited for the potential of this performance and hope you will join me in approaching our remaining rehearsals with enthusiasm and energy.

The spring concert kicks-off a month full of events where our work and focus must continue until the very end of the year.

Band Schedule – April 30 – May 4

Monday, April 30

Drum Major Training Session – 3:45-5:00 p.m.
Band Booster Meeting – 5:30 p.m.
Those chaperoning the Spring Trip should plan to attend.

Tuesday, May 1

Drum Major Auditions – 3:45-6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, May 2

Concert Rehearsals
Symphonic Band – 3:45 – 5:00 p.m.
Wind Ensemble – 4:45 – 6:00 p.m.

Symphonic Band – Db concert scale test Thursday
Percussion Ensemble – Db and Gb scale test Monday; timpani tuning quiz Friday
Wind Ensemble – mini-scale test Friday (pick a scale with at least 5 sharps or 5 flats and play for a grade)

Announcements, Updates, Information

Band Booster Meeting
In advance of our spring performance/preparation events, the band boosters will have their final meeting of this year on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. in the band room. Please make plans to attend. Those chaperoning the spring trip should attend as well.
Drum Major Training
Trainings conclude on Monday, April 30.
Auditions on Tuesday, May 1.
Marching Band Commitment Contracts

Graduation Orchestra
Selected woodwind, brass, and percussion players are asked to participate as we form a full orchestra for the graduation ceremonies. Hard copies of this memo were distributed last week. Please return permission forms on Wednesday, May 2. The first rehearsal is 7:40-8:20 a.m. on Friday, May 11 in the band room. Music will be distributed at this time.
Jazz Band
Rehearsals resume next Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 3:45-5:00 p.m.
Concert is Monday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m.
