WF Band Newsletter: April 9-13, 2018

We hope everyone had a great Spring Break! Please pay close attention to all announcements and calendar items listed below, many of which are vital preparations for future success. We look forward to working with you in the coming weeks as we create a positive environment for the end of the school year.

Announcements, Updates, Information

  • April-May Calendar

  • Please view the April-May 2018 calendar. A hard copy will be distributed in class this week.

  • Items of note:

  • Concert Rehearsals: May 3 and 7

  • Spring Concert: May 8 (Wind Ensemble rehearses prior)

  • Spring Trip: May 12

  • MB Spring Training: May 15

  • Banquet: May 18

  • Chamber/Jazz/Percussion Concert (attendance required): May 21

  • 2018 Spring Trip

  • Saturday, May 12, 2018 – Reward Trip to Carowinds!

  • There is no performance associated with this trip, but certain requirements must be met. The spring trip packet is here. Students received individualized copies that include fundraiser profits/balances due. The electronic version is FYI.

  • Commitment forms and deposits ($30) are due Monday, April 9.

  • Seats are limited!

  • Please read the packet for more details and information!

  • Those interested in chaperoning should contact Mr. Stanley directly as only a limited number of chaperones are needed.

  • Drum Major Training

  • Trainings continue on Tuesday, April 10 from 3:45-5:00 p.m.

  • Drum Major candidates must be a rising 10th-12th grader and have at least one year of marching experience. HOWEVER, the training sessions are open to anyone who would like to attend. Conducting is a skill that only improves with practice and time. Experience now will translate to greater success during an actual audition in future years. Come out to learn more!

  • Drum Line Clinics

  • Clinics to prepare for marching percussion auditions begin on Monday, April 9 from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Clinics will be held throughout April with auditions on Wednesday, April 25.

  • Jazz Band

  • Rehearsals resume on Thursday, April 12: 3:45-5:00 p.m.

  • Due to upcoming concert rehearsals, please note that there are only 4 remaining jazz band rehearsals before the concert on May 21!

  • Individual attendance is vital to collective success. If you are involved in jazz band, you have committed to these rehearsals. Please be sure you are communicating with Mr. Stanley about conflicts that may arise.
