Concert Assessment Week: February 26-March 2, 2018

It is Concert Assessment Week! Final preparations for Friday’s performance occur in class and during Thursday’s after-school Wind Ensemble rehearsal, 3:45-4:45 p.m. Due to the Thursday rehearsal, Jazz Band will rehearse on Tuesday from 3:45-5:00 p.m.

This is the last week for the revised Jazz Band rehearsal schedule. Thursday rehearsals resume next week, March 8.

VBODA District VI Concert Assessment (Wind Ensemble)
Arrive to school by 8:10 a.m. fully dressed in concert black performance attire.
Bring money for a fast food lunch.

Individual Practicing

There are many resources on the current members page!
Band room can be used for before- and after-school practice. You must have transportation and check with Mr. Stanley in advance.

Wind Ensemble Concert Assessment
All stakeholders should be making positive contributions to our final preparation:
Students: practice outside of class daily!
PLEASE use the recordings of our music as a guide.
Parents: please encourage your students to practice and prepare their music!
As your director I commit to creating the best possible environment for you to succeed.
Revised Calendar
Some changes to the calendar (clarifications of times, dates, etc.) are now posted electronically. Students will receive a hard copy of March-April in class this week. A revised hard copy for May will be distributed later.
Pizza Kits
The orders have been placed and delivery is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6 from 2:30-6:00 p.m.
Please note: these kits should not be out of the freezer for long before being refrozen. Make plans now to pick-up and deliver these to your customers.
Individual Practice
Remember: rehearsal occurs in the band room. To be prepared for rehearsal, you must practice outside of class! This is your standing homework assignment for band. Increases in outside practice WILL help us improve.
Parents, please help our program grow in quality by encouraging practice at home and engaged rehearsals at school (this means no cell phones). It is not always easy to listen to a student practice, but creating the expectation and opportunity for this to occur regularly at home is an important show of support for your child’s musical education. Forced practice can result in hating music. However, encouragement is a healthy way to show students you support their efforts to improve natural abilities.
