Back to School: August 21-25, 2017

Welcome (officially) to the 2017-18 school year! Our marching season is already well underway. I am very excited for the many prospects of this academic year.

For all students, including those who are not in marching band, please look for class information to begin appearing in weekly emails. Although September and October will contain a lot of marching band information, other forms, deadlines, and announcements apply to all students in the band program. This week, note the due dates for the Band Handbook Contract and Discipline Form, Syllabus Contract, and Instrument Contract. These are all graded assignments and will be due throughout the first few days of classes. Electronic versions will also be made available via email and the website.

The weekly schedule is below. Marching band rehearsals are on Monday and Tuesday, along with the State of the City Address on Thursday morning, and the first football game on Friday night. Itineraries for those events are available here.

Warm wishes for a smooth start to the school year,

Mr. Stanley

P.S. – After a recent upgrade, copies of band forms, itineraries, calendars, handbooks, etc. on the band website are password protected. When accessing these places on the webpage, you will be prompted for a password. Please see your email or contact Mr. Stanley for the password.

Announcements, Updates, Information

  • 2017 MB Fee

  • We request a $50 “fair-share” fee of each marching band member. This money helps pay for our t-shirts, uniform maintenance, competition fees, meals, etc. Remember, NO ONE is ever excluded due to financial difficulty and you may always approach Mr. Stanley with issues. All financial conversations are kept confidential. The 2017 MB fee is due by the end of the 2nd week of school, September 1.

  • Band Handbook

  • The band handbook is the governing document for all band policies, procedures, and expectations. Each member will receive a hard copy. The form on the last page is to be signed and returned on the second day of band class. It is a required grade for the course. An electronic version of the handbook is available here.

  • Course Syllabus, Instrument Loan Contract, Band Calendar

  • So that the beginning of school is not information overload, we are spacing out the release of material over the first few days in class. Please be on the lookout for these forms and information coming home before Labor Day:

  • Syllabus Contract

  • Instrument Loan Contract

  • Band Calendar

  • Contracts are to be signed and returned. Due dates will be announced. These are required grades for band class.
