Band Camp Week #1: July 24-28


We had a GREAT experience with leadership and new marching members last week. Lots of progress has already been made and a good foundation is ready to begin work during our next two weeks of band camp. Please review the important information below, including the weekly schedule for camp and uniform fittings, reminders, and links about materials you need.

Please make sure you prepare for camp with outdoor activity (other than band camp). Go outside at some point on your own when we are not rehearsing and drink lots of water every day before and after camp. Please come prepared sun-gear (hat, glasses, and sunscreen). Each member is asked to bring their own water bottle every day. We will take frequent breaks during outdoor rehearsals, but these will be most beneficial only if everyone can quickly get their own water from the sideline for regular hydration.

Band Schedule – Band Camp Week #1 – July 24 - 28

  • Monday, July 24

  • Full Band Camp – 8 AM – 12 PM

  • Uniform Fittings (Leadership/Seniors) – 12 PM

  • Percussion Sectional – 1 PM – 4 PM

  • ​Percussion, please note – for this week, there will be an hour break between 12 PM and the beginning of your sectional at 1 PM. Please make a lunch plan for this week during that time. The band room will be open if you plan to pack and remain at school.

  • Tuesday, July 25

  • Full Band Camp – 8 AM – 12 PM

  • Uniform Fittings (Juniors) – 12 PM

  • Percussion Sectional – 1 PM – 4 PM

  • Full Band Camp – 8 AM – 12 PM

  • ​​Uniform Fittings – please refer to the schedule above. Uniforms will be fitted at the conclusion of rehearsals this week based on grade. If you cannot make the assigned day of your uniform fitting, you can make it up later in the week. Any parents available who would like to assist with this process are welcome!

  • Band Potluck – August 4 @ 6:00 PM: To celebrate the end of camp and the students’ hard work, we will have a potluck dinner following our preview show on Friday, August 4. The show begins at 6:00 PM, followed by the dinner in the cafeteria. Please bring a dish large enough to feed your family/friends/student attending the dinner and one 2-liter drink.​

  • Full Band Camp – EVERYONE each day – 8 AM – 5 PM

  • Monday, July 31

  • WFHS Hosts Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps

  • We will observe some of their rehearsals toward the end of the day

  • Salem DCI show is that night

  • Friday, August 4

  • A preview show/concert of the Marching Colonels 2017 will be held at 6:00 for family and friends. This will be followed by a band pot-luck dinner.

  • Please bring a dish large enough for your student and all in your family attending and bring one 2-liter drink.
