Band Newsletter: March 6-10, 2017

Once again, congratulations to everyone involved on the “excellent” performance delivered at Friday’s Assessment! A full recap from Assessment is available here. We will debrief from the performance and set new goals to carry us forward during band classes this week.

This week’s schedule is relatively light. Here are some highlights:

  • There will be no formal booster meeting on Monday, March 6.

  • Please mark your calendars for Monday, April 3 when the booster meeting is required attendance for all chaperones attending the Spring Trip. We will meet in the band room at promptly 5:30 p.m. The meeting will last under one hour.

  • Final Spring Trip payments/balances are due on Wednesday, March 8. For individual financial information, please contact Mr. Stanley. Also due: yellow permission/medical forms.

  • On Thursday, A2 and A3 will be tested on the D concert scale. More information is available here.

This week, we look forward to beginning the next chapter of our band’s success. Colonel Pride!

Other Items of Note

  • Please begin to look ahead in the calendar. Preparatory events for marching band 2017 are fast approaching.

  • Mr. Stanley will begin approaching students about scheduling and enrollment for next year. Please consider how you can continue being a part of our band. We have so much talent and potential that can help the growth of our other ensembles, including marching band.

  • Additionally, think of how you can help recruit middle school students so that we can keep growing! Last year’s band classes had approximately 62 total students with 14 seniors. This year, we have 70 members. That is a net growth of 22 people! We would love to double that number for 2017-2018.

  • FYI – Several recruitment and outreach efforts are planned as we near the end of the school year, including exciting opportunities for middle school collaboration!

  • Take a moment this week to offer your best wishes to the orchestra and choir. Their Concert Assessment performances are on Tuesday, March 7 and Thursday, March 16, respectively.
