2 Weeks Until Assessment - Feb. 20-24 Weekly Update

Please take a moment to thoroughly review the information in this update. Our weekly schedule includes the Pre-Assessment Concert on Tuesday, February 21. Only 6 rehearsals remain before our appearance at VBODA Concert Assessment.

I hope that everyone will come to rehearsals this week with a sense of urgency. Know your part, how it fits into the whole, and let us commit to working together with fervor to deliver only our highest level of musicality.

Band Schedule – February 20-24

Monday, February 20
No School – Parent/Teacher Conferences
Those attending the Spring Trip – Revised balance reports (including fundraising totals from Pizza Kits) will be available. You may stop by anytime from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. to check on your trip status and make final financial arrangements with Mr. Stanley.
Tuesday, February 21
Pre-Assessment Concert at PHHS (mandatory and graded event)
6:10 – 8:15 p.m.
ALL Concert Black Attire

Wednesday, February 22
Spring Trip Deposit #5 ($50) Due
Please consult revised balance sheets. All remaining balances are due March 8.
Thursday, February 23
Jazz Band – 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Friday – Sunday
Take instruments home and practice!!

Concert Assessment

Concert Assessment memo is here. Permission and medical forms are past due. Failure to turn in required permission form for Pre-Assessment trip (resulting in inability to attend the trip) will result in an “F” for the performance and may prevent a student from attending concert assessment, further affecting their grade. Itineraries for the Pre-Assessment Concert (2.21.17) and Concert Assessment trip (3.3.17) have also been distributed. They are available here.

Other Information

Spring Trip Update
Many who are attending the spring trip are behind on payments. Please see Mr. Stanley for individual financial information. Revised balance statements will be available starting on Monday, February 20. The company is now billing the band and we are responsible for the total, regardless of individuals’ payment status!
February-March calendar revisions
Some revisions have been made to the February/March calendars to reflect final dates of assessment, etc. New hard copies of February/March are available in the band room bulletin board with “extra forms.”

College Performance Opportunity
Radford University is hosting a FREE “High School Band Day” on Saturday, February 26, 2017. Details, including a registration link, are available in this letter.
Many colleges allow high school students to come play with their ensembles as high school students decide where they plan to study.
This is not a school sponsored trip. Students are responsible for their own registration, transportation, etc.
