Moving Forward: October 2-7, 2016
Congratulations to the Marching Colonels on their performance at Saturday’s competition. Our preparation during the past week was evident in our performance. We are pleased with the percussion score—1st place in our class! Congratulations also to Syncere’ Keen who received the “Ian Willis Perseverance Award,” given to only one band member out of the hundreds who competed on Saturday!
Of course, there is still much to do; it is a work in progress. We will use the judges’ comments and suggestions to improve prior to our next contest on October 15.
The weekly schedule is below. B3 percussion class will have their instrument test #2 on Monday; they will also have a scale test on Bb and F scales on Friday. Band boosters have their monthly meeting on Monday. Full marching rehearsals are Monday and Thursday. There is a home football game on Friday.
Please continue to come prepared for rehearsals no matter the weather. This preparation includes music memorization prior to rehearsal! We will have rehearsal; there is always something we can do (musically or visually). Please be flexible, come with a good attitude, and be ready to work. We need every individual to be present and active during rehearsals and performances. Your team needs your positive attitude, focus, and hard work. Buy-in to the culture of commitment to excellence. Everyone contributes; everyone matters.
