Band Camp: August 1-5

We have just finished a good first week of band camp. Lots of foundation has been laid to make fast and substantial progress next week. We must continue to give our best and work hard! We will only hit as high as we aim!

Our schedule changes next week. Please take time to read the full schedule below. Here are some important reminders:

  • Those attending Monday’s DCI trip should refer to the post from Wednesday. It contains travel information and itinerary. For more information, please click here.

  • Tuesday 8/2 will begin at 8:30 AM. Due to the late night we anticipate from Monday’s DCI show, we begin at 8:30. All other days begin at 8 AM. On Tuesday, the band room will open at 7:30 AM.

  • Students will be responsible for packing their lunch a few days next week. Please see the schedule below for meal specifics about each day of camp.

  • Have sun protection and drink lots of water (not soda). We will certainly be monitoring our exposure and time in the heat, but camp will continue as normal. Please come prepared to work in sometimes hot conditions!

  • Friday’s preview show will be an informal performance of what we have accomplished in two short weeks and what our audience can be excited for as the fall progresses. We will perform at 5:30 PM, followed by a potluck meal. For the potluck, please bring a dish/food that is enough for your student and all family members attending. We look forward to this time of music and fun!

Thank you for all your work so far. I am continually impressed with the potential for this season and very proud of the many accomplishments we’ve made together.

Band Camp Schedule – Week 2

  • Monday, August 1 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Meals: Lunch provided.

  • Theme: BAND! Embrace your inner band; wear your favorite band t-shirt or other music gear.

  • Those attending DCI should bring money for dinner in the stadium.

  • DCI trip is 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM

  • Tuesday, August 2 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • I have decided that we will begin on Tuesday 1/2 hour later than normal, due to the anticipated late night at the DCI show on Monday. As always, the band room will be open approximately 1 hour prior (7:30) to start time.

  • Meals: Pack your lunch! Dinner provided.

  • Theme: Twin Day! Pick a friend…dress the same!

  • Wednesday, August 3 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Meals: Pack your lunch!

  • Theme: Superhero Day! Save the day at band camp by embodying your inner-hero!

  • Thursday, August 4 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Meals: Pack your lunch! Dinner provided.

  • Theme: Retro Day! Throwback Thursday with attire/costumes from previous decades.

  • Friday, August 5 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM

  • Meals: Pack your lunch! Potluck dinner.

  • Theme: Colonel Pride Day! Blue and Gold!

  • A preview show/concert of the Marching Colonels 2016 will be held at 5:30 for family and friends. This will be followed by a band pot-luck dinner. Please bring a dish large enough to feed your student and all family/friends attending.
