Band This Week: May 9-13

We have our second after-school rehearsal for the Spring Concert this week on Thursday, May 12. The Band Banquet is this Friday, May 13. More important details and links are below.

Please take some time to review this list. Attendance at last week’s after-school rehearsal was very poor. Of those absent, only a small percentage of students provided advance notice or appropriate excused absence reasons.

A gentle reminder…after-school events are a graded part of the band class and were announced in writing several months ago on the calendar. Our policy states that students with a conflict should let the director know a week in advance. Splitting time between other events is sometimes necessary, however, this also requires advance notice and can many times be avoided. It is the responsibility of the student to maintain an organized schedule, including his or her commitments to the band program. “I didn’t know we had rehearsal,” is never an excuse.

Drum Major Training Session #4 – 3:30-5:00 PM (band room)
Tuesday, May 10
Jazz Band – 3:30-5:30 PM (band room)
Date changed due to concert rehearsal on Thurs.
Thursday, May 12
Full Band Concert Rehearsal – 3:45-5:45 PM (band room)
Mandatory and graded
Friday, May 13
Band Banquet – 6:30 PM (WF cafeteria)
This is a catered meal.
Seniors and 2 guests eat free.
Students who fundraised may eat free.
Current band students who are not seniors and did not fundraise may eat for $5.00 each.
All additional guests may attend for $8.00 each.
Students have signed up in class. Money may be turned into Mr. Stanley at any time. All attendees should be signed up in advance, but money will be accepted at the door.
Please dress appropriately for this event as we honor our seniors and celebrate a year of music making!
2016 Marching Band Registration!
Commitment Contracts were due two weeks ago; please turn in ASAP so that we can begin planning!
