Weekly Update - April 18-22, 2016

Preparations for the end of this year and next year begin in earnest this week. Please take note of the following announcements, attachments, and information.

Highlights include: registration for 2016 Marching Band, Marching Percussion Clinics, and Drum Major/Leadership preparations! Also, please mark your calendar to join us in the WFHS Cafeteria for the annual Band Banquet. This year’s event begins at 6:30 PM on Friday, May 13.

  • 2016 Marching Band Registration!

  • Introduction letter and commitment contract are here.

  • Hard copies were distributed in class last week.

  • Please visit our registration page to commit online!

  • Commitment Contracts due: Wednesday, April 27.

  • Drum Major Training Session #2 – TODAY, Monday, April 18 – 3:30-5:00 PM (band room)

  • Marching Percussion Clinic #1 – TODAY, Monday, April 18 – 4:30-6:00 PM (band room)

  • Clinic #2 – tomorrow, Tuesday, April 19, 4:30-6:00 PM.

  • Auditions – Wednesday, April 20, 4:30 PM in the band room

  • First come, first served – approx. 5 minute audition and then you’re done!

  • All students audition on snare drum to demonstrate basic percussion ability. Open to any percussionist currently enrolled in 7th – 11th grade.

  • Please see letter from Mr. Robertson for more information.

  • Jazz Band – Thursday, April 21, 3:30-5:30 PM (band room)

  • Revised April-May 2016 band calendar

  • Please see the PDF for the latest version of April and May 2016 (pages 10-11).

  • Spring Trip

  • Remaining deposits/balance payments are due ASAP or by Wednesday, April 27.

  • Please see Mr. Stanley for individual financial information.

  • Permission/medical form will be distributed in class this week.

  • Leadership Applications

  • Many leadership positions are available for next year’s band. Packets were available the week before Spring Break and are available for pick up in the band room (information also here). This is a great opportunity to get more involved and get some upper-level experience that helps with resumes, employment opportunities, and college applications.

  • Application Sheet Due: Wednesday, April 20

  • Paper and Teacher Recommendations Due: Monday, April 25

  • Leadership Interviews: Tuesday, April 26 (sign-up for a time on the sheet posted outside Mr. Stanley’s office; sign-up by Friday, April 22).
